Hello, I'm Chris

Chris is a photographer from North Wales, specialising in fine art street photography, which he captures across the Welsh coastal towns and seaside resorts.

I’m drawn to the quiet beauty and unexpected moments in everyday life – the kinds of scenes that often go unnoticed and overlooked. I’m currently working on various long-term projects, which are based around the towns and seaside resorts around my local area.

I'll walk out of my front door without knowing what I might find; curiosity is my motivation. If I'm lucky, I might arrive home having photographed something with a narrative, something abstract, something surreal, something humorous, or maybe something graphically or aesthetically pleasing. I like to walk with an open mind and experiment with the moment as it unfolds.

I studied graphic design at Wrexham College and Loughborough School of Art. It was at Wrexham that I was introduced to black-and-white photography. Developing film in a darkroom, I used techniques like dodging and burning with a small piece of paper to manipulate the exposure of an image and alter the final print’s tonality, depth, and detail. Little did I know then that years later I would be doing the same thing – but digitally.

Graphic design plays a significant role in shaping my approach to composition, colour, and form. I often blend the artistic principles of design with photography in order to make images that are conceptually layered and open to interpretation.

I could go on here about all sorts of boring stuff that you don’t have the time to read, so let’s stick to this for now. If you have got this far and want to know more, you can always drop me a line. You'll find a few different ways to get in touch over on the contact page.

I hope you enjoyed looking through some of my favourite images. If you want to see some of my latest work you can always check my Instagram feed, which acts as a visual diary and photo scrapbook.

Oh, and in case you were wondering – Welsh is my first language :)
